The Department of Veteran Affairs is seeking a part-time Ophthalmologist to join our team at the Memphis VA Medical Center. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing high-quality care to our nation's veterans.
Key Responsibilities- Provide outpatient services, including admission, work-up, diagnosis, consultation, and prescribing medications to treat ophthalmology patients.
- Perform operative and non-operative care for ophthalmology patients in various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient care units, and operating suites.
- Participate in academic activities, including supervising residents and providing consultative services for the Surgery Department.
- Experience-based salary range: $280,000-$ Negotiable)
- Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM-4:30PM
- Annual performance bonus and regular salary increases
- Possible $1000 per year CME reimbursement (must be board certified)
- Malpractice liability protection with tail coverage
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Ophthalmology
- Full and unrestricted license from any US state or territory
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Proficient in written and spoken English language
- US Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens
- 26 paid vacation days, 13 paid sick days, and 11 paid holidays, 5 paid CME attendance days
- Federal health/dental/vision/term life/long-term care insurance
- Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and separate 401K with up to 5% in contributions
- Predictable work schedules with a focus on quality rather than volume
- Clinical research opportunities and possible academic affiliation
- No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
