About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Engineer to join our Multifamily Capital Markets team at Fannie Mae. As a valued colleague, you will play a key role in supporting the team in applying mathematical models, advanced tools, and financial industry knowledge to business or financial data.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Document and Report on Data Analysis: Efficiently document and report on processing or analyzing large amounts of data using advanced financial engineering tools and techniques.
  2. Contribute to Financial Analysis and Forecasting: Contribute to financial analysis or forecasting, which may include scenario or sensitivity analysis, stress testing, or attribution analysis.
  3. Execute Models and Interpret Results: Participate in executing models and/or interpreting model results.
  4. Communicate Results to Customers: Assist with translating the results from the analysis or models for the customer into understandable conclusions.
  5. Model Development and Validation: Assist model builders to vet new models, suggest changes to existing models, or analyze model performance data.
  6. Data and Systems Analysis: Perform data and systems analysis, validation, and regression testing.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in financial engineering, mathematics, and computer science. Desired qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Programming skills, including coding, debugging, and using relevant programming languages.
  • Experience working with people from different functional expertise to achieve a common goal.
  • Business insight, including advising, designing business models, interpreting customer and market insights, forecasting, benchmarking, etc.
  • Skilled in documentation and database reporting for analysis, data discovery, and decision-making.
  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions.
  • Skilled in cloud technologies and cloud computing.
  • Experience analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions.
  • Expertise in using statistical methods, including developing and testing hypotheses, using experimental design, and running linear and logistic regressions.
  • Experience defining and managing changes to documents, code, computer programs, websites, and other files.
  • Skilled in graphical representation of information using programs and tools like Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
