Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Milling Machine Operator to join our team at Horst Engineering & Manufacturing Co. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in setting up and operating CNC Milling Machines to produce high-precision component parts that meet all quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate Milling machines (Feeler, Robodrill, and Hass platforms) to produce high-precision component parts.
  • Work from blueprints, operation sheets, travelers, or other specifications to set up and complete machining operations.
  • Check materials to ensure they meet specifications and obtain bar stock or material from the staging area as needed.
  • Perform complex set-ups of own work or for others, making all required adjustments to the machinery.
  • Assist other Operators or Set-up/Operators with set-up or production problems and help train others.
  • Ensure all manufactured parts meet quality standards by performing visual inspections and dimensional verification using measuring instruments.
  • Replace worn or damaged tooling as necessary and verify and record actual part count before and after completion of work.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and maintain fluid levels, keeping the equipment and work area clean and organized.
  • Return excess bar stock or material to the staging area and move finished work to an assigned area.
  • Enter all work performed into the database and document all scrap, notifying the lead person or supervisor of any parts shortages or machining problems.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, technical school training a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of set-up experience required, experience with aerospace products and/or close tolerance parts a plus.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc controls and ability to set and change tools required.
  • Ability to read and write comments, understand operation sheets/blueprints, specifications, and company/customer paperwork required.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, with ability to read CNC programs and perform problem-solving tasks.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for up to 8+ hours.
