Position Summary:
This role operates on a schedule from 11 PM to 7:30 AM, full-time, totaling 40 hours per week. The salary range is $16.25 to $30.02.


We are looking for a dedicated Surgical Instrument Processing Specialist at Emory Decatur Hospital. This individual will be a certified technician who prioritizes the quality of their work, ensuring the safety and care of all patients.


Key Responsibilities:


- Provide on-site assistance for the reprocessing of surgical instruments and sets, adhering to standards set by the Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN, as well as the facility's policies.


- Support daily operations related to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instruments, including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage, while complying with all professional standards and regulations.


- At the Manager's direction, participate in new employee orientation and on-the-job training. Promote the principles of a Lean work environment and maintain professional communication with all hospital staff and company personnel.


- Report any broken instruments and equipment, and communicate low inventory levels of SPD consumable supplies. Exhibit professionalism in all forms of communication.


- Represent the organization, yourself, and the profession positively in all public interactions. Adhere to IMS policies and procedures and support the facility's guidelines.


- Maintain compliance with IMS/facility dress codes, ensuring a neat and well-groomed appearance at all times.



Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Completion of a Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist program is preferred.
- Basic computer skills and aptitude are required. Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM, or two years of experience in lieu of certification is necessary.
- Extensive knowledge of instrumentation is essential.


Ability to serve as a resource for staff in both SPD and OR regarding the identification and assembly of specialty instruments and trays.
