Job Overview:

Cook County is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to provide expert guidance on labor relations, employment law, and governance matters. This role requires a Juris Doctorate from an accredited School of Law and at least five years' experience in labor relations, human resources, litigation, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between the Offices Under the President and other Cook County offices and agencies
  • Develop and implement policies affecting employees, including benefits, Workers Compensation, disability, return to work matters, work rules, and personnel rules
  • Represent Cook County before various forums, including the Illinois Labor Relations Board
  • Collaborate with external counsel and retained experts on employment-related issues

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited School of Law
  • License to practice law in the State of Illinois
  • At least five years' experience in labor relations, human resources, litigation, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of local and municipal government laws in Illinois, particularly in Cook County

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
