Job Overview

Empyrean Services is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer SME to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing electrical design solutions for our nuclear facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for engineering design changes.
  • Research and evaluate engineering and design issues, and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Provide ongoing support for assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews and field installation support activities.
  • Develop or revise design specifications, technical requirement documents, and complex engineering calculations.
  • Develop safety screens and evaluations to support engineering design changes.
  • Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent BS degree with relevant work experience.
  • 15+ years of engineering experience in the nuclear industry with experience in Electrical / I&C Design Modification preparation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills within a professional environment.
  • Skilled in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registration/Licensure as a Professional Engineer.
  • Electrical / I&C / Digital engineering experience at Brunswick Nuclear Plant.
  • Experience in the 10CFR50.59 with respect to designing modifications to a nuclear facility.
  • Working level knowledge of ETAP software program.
  • Working level knowledge of nuclear industry cyber security control practices.
  • Experience with nuclear industry standard design process.
