Position Overview

This role involves professional responsibilities in the field of nutritional guidance and counseling. The individual in this position will provide tailored advice to meal plan participants facing medical issues that impact their nutritional health, alongside delivering nutrition education focused on disease prevention.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct individual consultations, offering nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy for students enrolled in meal plans with specific health conditions.

2. Facilitate tours of dining facilities for students and parents, focusing on food allergens and specialized dietary needs.

3. Grant access to specialized resources such as the Gluten-Free Pantry and chef services for students requiring unique dietary accommodations.

4. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians and dietitians, to coordinate care for students' medical needs.

5. Provide clear communication regarding the nutritional content of meal plan menus, educating customers on available healthy choices and motivating them towards a healthier lifestyle.

6. Supervise the Dietetic Technician in maintaining accurate nutrient, allergen, and ingredient data through computerized systems.

7. Develop and implement nutrition education programs as necessary.

8. Participate in staff evaluations and contribute to the enhancement of the dining services program.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Preferred qualifications encompass a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential and a Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) designation from the appropriate regulatory body.

Skills and Competencies

- In-depth knowledge of nutritional care principles and practices.
- Ability to identify and address nutrition education needs effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Capacity to establish and maintain productive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

Physical Requirements

This position may involve light to heavy lifting and extended periods of standing, as well as navigating various campus facilities.

Additional Information
