Position Overview

The University Cancer & Blood Center is looking for a dedicated Full-Time Clinical Laboratory Specialist to enhance our team. In this role, you will conduct essential medical evaluations that aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various health conditions. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 4 PM and 8 AM to 5 PM.

The Clinical Laboratory Specialist (CLS) is accountable to the Laboratory Manager and is responsible for processing and analyzing a variety of laboratory samples; interpreting and reporting laboratory findings; ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of laboratory instruments; and serving as a knowledgeable resource when necessary.   • Conducting moderate to high-complexity laboratory testing.
  • Implementing quality assurance protocols and performing equipment calibrations.
  • Alerting healthcare providers regarding critical laboratory results.
  • Adhering to current documentation standards and institutional policies.
  • Consistently applying standard safety precautions.
  • Operating laboratory machinery safely and effectively.
  • Staying updated on innovative testing techniques, products, and technologies.
  • Exhibiting flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited medical laboratory technician or technologist program.
  • Certification from a recognized certifying body such as ASCP or AAB.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a related life/biological science field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, microbiology).
