Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team. As a Histology Technician, you'll play a critical role in preparing tissue sections for microscopic study and interpretation by our pathologists. This is a dynamic and challenging role that requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure specimens are properly accessioned, labeled, and suitable for testing
• Embed tissue into paraffin blocks and cut quality tissue sections to proper thickness
• Perform routine and special stains, immunohistochemistry, cover slipping, verification, and distribution of slides
• Perform and document quality control, evaluating results and taking corrective action as needed
• Assist pathologists during frozen section procedures and ensure compliance with accrediting agency standards

Requirements

• Current Histotechnician (HT) certification or 60 semester hours of academic credit with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry
• One year of full-time experience in a histopathology laboratory in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last five years
• Ability to move freely and lift up to 25 pounds without assistance

Work Environment

This role is based in a medical setting with high risk of exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, and biohazardous materials. You'll work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments, occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
