About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team at ThedaCare. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue sections for microscopic study and interpretation by our pathologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately accession, label, and prepare specimens for testing
  • Embed tissue into paraffin blocks and cut quality tissue sections to proper thickness
  • Perform routine and special stains, immunohistochemistry, cover slipping, verification, and distribution of slides
  • Conduct quality control and evaluate results, taking corrective action as needed
  • Assist pathologists during frozen section procedures and ensure compliance with accrediting agency standards
Requirements
  • A current Histotechnician (HT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) or equivalent experience
  • One year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 25 pounds
Work Environment

This role is based in a medical setting with high risk of exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, and biohazardous materials. You will work 32 hours a week with scheduled weekly hours of 40 and a scheduled FTE of 1.
