Group Exercise Instructor (GXI) Role

The Group Exercise Instructor (GXI) is responsible for guiding participants in a collective environment through various workouts aimed at enhancing physical fitness, strength, and stamina, while ensuring the safety of all members. This role also involves educating participants on fitness-related topics and reporting to the Regional Fitness Programming Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrive ahead of schedule to engage with members, respond to inquiries, and prepare for the session
  • Dress in suitable fitness apparel and ensure all equipment is in working order
  • Present the class structure and provide clear instructions throughout the session
  • Observe participants to ensure correct form and provide modifications as necessary
  • Create an encouraging and enjoyable atmosphere during classes

Post-Class Duties:

  • Organize and tidy up equipment and the space
  • Address any questions from participants and gather feedback

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure classes commence and conclude punctually
  • Arrange for qualified substitutes if unable to conduct a class
  • Maintain consistency in class schedules and participate in staff meetings
  • Adhere to proper procedures for timekeeping and incident documentation
  • Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor towards duties and members

Encourage compliance with guidelines and the Fitness Connection Group Exercise program. Uphold the values and standards of the organization.
