The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. This division offers a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

We have a near-term need for an Electrical Engineer SME to provide onsite support out of our Lorton, VA facility (near Fort Belvoir). The selected candidate will work closely with our team to provide scientific and project management support to DTRA Chemical and Biological Defense Department by providing subject matter expertise in electrical engineering applied to chemical and biological threat detection/identification science using passive or standoff detection methods such as spectroscopy, lasers, lidar, or quantum sensing for high-resolution mapping of chemical or biological agents.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide support to identify warfighter emerging technology needs, understand capability gaps to assist in developing project and product strategies and goals. This requires coordination and consolidation of complex, technical, programmatic, and strategic responses, such as assisting in the review of proposals submitted through the Long-Range Broad Agency Announcements, technical reports, and statements of work for the Joint Science and Technology Office (JSTO) to ensure technical validity. The candidate will create communication products for both technical and senior leader audiences, monitor funding documentation, and other programmatic metrics for within the division, and assist with drafting presentations, papers, and other programmatic documentation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or other physical science-related field with 5 years of experience in science and technology program management
  • Experience using strong analytical skills in application and analysis of scientific principles for future technologies
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools and programs
  • Active Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret clearance

The salary for this position is estimated at $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development.
