The selected candidate will lead a professional team of ten Buyers, tasked with the administration of purchase orders and related activities, guaranteeing that manufacturing operations are well-supported with necessary materials.

This position carries significant financial responsibilities, including direct spending, inventory investment, and freight management across the sites.


The team engages with a wide array of domestic and international suppliers to meet the demands of our internal stakeholders.

Our portfolio includes various commodities that support a product line focused on analytical laboratory and medical device instrumentation, particularly in the realms of Liquid Chromatography, Supercritical Fluid Chromatography, and consumable chemistry products.


The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and adaptable leader, committed to delivering exceptional value to both internal and external customers consistently.

They will possess the capability to enhance the efficiency of existing procurement processes and systems, leading to improved inventory management, material availability, and planning success.

This role requires a hands-on approach, showcasing dynamic leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and critical problem-solving abilities, all while fostering a culture of success within the organization.


Responsibilities:
Lead and effectively manage the Materials Planning teams at both manufacturing sites in Massachusetts.

Act as a vital member of the manufacturing leadership team at both locations.

Drive advancements in materials planning by adopting new tools and processes in collaboration with the global supply chain.

Oversee material expenditures totaling $170 million and manage an average raw material inventory of $60 million across both sites.

Accountable for optimizing inbound freight and associated costs through effective contract management and transportation management systems.

Ensure procurement operations align with established build plans and adhere to best practices.

Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs to maintain adequate supply and inventory levels.


Proactively secure firm commitments from suppliers, address critical supplier issues, and escalate as necessary to ensure timely delivery of materials.

Develop and refine KPIs and dashboards to monitor Purchase Order status, clear-to-build metrics, and inventory management.


Collaborate cross-functionally with Production Planning, Stockroom, Supply Planning, Production, and Engineering to enhance the flow of materials and information.

Ensure accuracy in item master data and maintenance of MRP parameters, including safety stock levels, order quantities, lead times, and transit durations.


Enhance internal inventory management processes, optimizing stock levels to mitigate business risks.

Maintain robust relationships with suppliers, working closely with Global Sourcing and Commodity Management to explore new supply sources and support cost-reduction initiatives.

Assist in the development and introduction of new products, ensuring a smooth transition to volume manufacturing.

Establish and document standard operating procedures for the Procurement Department, integrating best practices to drive operational efficiency.

Build a competitive advantage by recruiting top talent and fostering their development through coaching and support.

This position offers a hybrid work model.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Materials Planning and Purchasing Management.

Direct experience with ERP/Planning System upgrades and process transformations.

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Strong leadership capabilities, self-motivated, and adept at making independent decisions.

Advanced proficiency in SAP (ECC and APO) and Microsoft applications is essential.

APICS CPIM certification or equivalent is desirable.

Familiarity with cGMP, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 13485:2016 is a plus.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills are required.

A passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence, with a solid understanding of Lean principles.

Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and implement corrective actions.
