Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Surgery team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Respect patients' values, preferences, and knowledge of their healthcare situation
Standards of Practice

The Registered Nurse will adhere to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice, which include:

  • Assessment: Collecting pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or situation
  • Diagnosis: Analyzing assessment data to determine actual and potential diagnoses or issues
  • Outcomes Identification: Identifying expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation
  • Planning: Developing and modifying a plan of care that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes
  • Implementation: Implementing the identified plan
  • Coordination of Care: Coordinating care delivery and transitions in care
  • Health Teaching and Health Promotion: Employing strategies to promote health and a safe environment
  • Evaluation: Evaluating progress toward attainment of outcomes
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN preferred
  • Current BCLS certification or must obtain within one month of hire
  • 1 year acute RN experience required
Physical Demands

The Registered Nurse will be required to:

  • Prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing, and touch
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases
  • Will be exposed to physical, mental, and emotional illness as well as end of life conditions and death
  • Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care
