Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Center for Human Animal Interaction at the Department of Psychiatry. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for gathering accurate information on participants in ongoing research projects, adhering to experimental/IRB approved protocols, and engaging with participants, healthcare staff, and other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruit participants and schedule in-person randomized conditions
Maintain quality control standards to preserve data integrity
Deliver and track participant incentives
Clean research devices and prepare them for next usage
Update and maintain tracking spreadsheets
Write reports as required

Requirements:

Enjoy interacting with dogs of all types and not be afraid of them
Experience prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Data entry experience, including use of web-based databases

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of research experience
A bachelor's degree or currently pursuing a bachelor's degree
Prior experience working with dogs
Prior experience working in a hospital
Interest in studying Human-Animal Interaction/Anthrozoology at the graduate level or incorporating Animal-Assisted Interventions/Therapy in future professional goals
