Role Summary
The Area Coach is responsible for managing the personnel, processes, and operations of 5-7 restaurants within their designated area. This role includes training, mentoring, and supporting managers through strategic planning, goal establishment, and the implementation of successful routines. The focus is on in-store problem resolution and process enhancement; setting performance standards; and recognizing and motivating Restaurant Managers, Assistant Managers, and their teams. The Area Coach will establish and review specific performance targets related to guest service, margin enhancement, and employee satisfaction, while ensuring compliance with company standards in food safety, product quality, and facility specifications. Additionally, the role involves allocating limited capital budgets to address the most critical facility needs, introducing new company products and initiatives, and selecting, training, and developing managerial staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance people capability to drive brand performance.
- Recruit and train top operators to ensure exceptional customer experiences.
- Develop a strong pipeline of capable Managers.
- Lead by example and champion company culture.
- Oversee performance management processes, including feedback, appraisals, and conflict resolution.
Customer Experience Management
- Promote a customer-centric culture by modeling effective resolution of customer issues and training managers to exceed service standards.
- Analyze customer complaints to identify root causes and guide management in implementing solutions.
- Conduct periodic restaurant audits with RGMs to ensure adherence to performance standards and provide objective feedback.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards through direct observation and follow-up on audit results.
- Monitor restaurant Speed with Service (SWS) performance and coach management teams to achieve targets.
Brand Growth and Profitability
- Evaluate and prioritize capital expenditure requests, establishing vendor relationships to leverage scale.
- Ensure facilities and equipment meet brand standards and coordinate necessary upgrades or replacements.
- Continuously analyze sales, labor, inventory, and controllables, coaching on corrective actions to meet margin and sales growth targets.
- Collaborate with Managers to drive sales growth compared to previous achievements.
- Work with Restaurant General Managers to create and implement unit-specific Annual Operating Plans.
Qualifications
- Strong commitment to excellence in food quality, service, cleanliness, and speed.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in coaching, team development, and problem-solving.
- Dynamic and proactive leader with a strong sense of integrity.
- Adaptable coaching style with effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Basic business math and accounting skills, along with strong analytical abilities.
- 3-5 years of successful operational management experience in the Quick Service Restaurant industry or retail.
- Proven track record in selecting, coaching, and developing managerial talent.
- Ability to enhance customer satisfaction, financial performance, and employee engagement.
