Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients, as well as receiving and processing other laboratory specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens from patients using aseptic techniques and following established protocols
  • Enter, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information into various information systems
  • Perform and report bedside glucose testing
  • Process and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection and processing
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Six (6) months phlebotomy experience required or completion of an internship through a certified training program required
  • Pass a written test with at least 80%
  • Hands on phlebotomy skills must be demonstrated on volunteer
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bedside glucose and pediatric collection experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy Certification, general computer skills, CPR, and additional language skills (i.e. Spanish) preferred
