Job Summary:

Penn State Health is seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients, as well as receiving and processing other laboratory specimens. This is a full-time position with a varied shift schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

Collect blood specimens from patients using aseptic techniques and following established protocols
Receive and process other laboratory specimens, including 24-hour urine containers, sputum, and stool specimens
Enter and verify patient demographic and insurance information into various information systems
Perform and report bedside glucose testing as needed

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Six months of phlebotomy experience or completion of an internship through a certified training program required
Pass a written test with at least 80% accuracy
Demonstrate hands-on phlebotomy skills on a volunteer basis

Preferred Qualifications:

Bedside glucose and pediatric collection experience preferred
Phlebotomy certification and general computer skills preferred
CPR certification and additional language skills, such as Spanish, preferred
