Job Summary

The Lead Preschool Teacher will be responsible for planning and executing developmentally appropriate programs for assigned classes, maintaining a warm and respectful attitude towards all children, and ensuring the overall well-being of the children in their care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Assist in planning and executing developmentally appropriate programs for assigned classes in accordance with the philosophies of JCYS.
  • Child Supervision: Have constant supervision and active involvement with children, including inside classrooms, in hallways, on playgrounds, and on offsite trips.
  • Communication: Send daily updates to parents regarding their child's activities and progress.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain professional relationships with parents and other staff members.
  • Confidentiality: Understand the importance of keeping confidential information safe and take all necessary precautions to do so.
  • Teamwork: Attend staff meetings and contribute to the knowledge of other staff members.
  • Adaptability: Be willing to work in partnership with teachers and other staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children.
Requirements
  • Education: Associates or Bachelors Degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 college credit hours in child development and minimum of 2 years of experience working with children.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated experience in developing positive relationships, and ability to physically interact with children.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
