Job Title: Preschool Lead Teacher

At The Green Bean LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Preschool Lead Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging environment for our young students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement weekly lesson plans that align with our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, incorporating activities in science, math, literacy/language, and physical development.
  • Establish and maintain a daily classroom schedule that includes choice time, circle time, and art/sensory activities, ensuring a balance of structure and flexibility.
  • Provide high-quality care, including diaper changing, hand washing procedures, family-style dining, and monitoring the safety and well-being of each child.
  • Document group activities through photos, observations, and teacher reflection, showcasing the children's progress and learning experiences.
  • Conduct regular observations for individual portfolio assessments, highlighting each child's unique strengths and areas of growth.
  • Facilitate parent-teacher conferences, providing regular updates on each child's development and progress, and conducting home visits as needed.
  • Directly supervise one or more teaching assistants, providing guidance, support, and training on documentation and project work.
  • Update the parent blog on a daily basis, sharing the children's experiences and achievements with their families.
  • Participate in annual Open House and other family events, fostering a sense of community and connection among our families.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, meeting the minimum requirement of 15 hours per year as mandated by DCFS.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with a minimum of six semester hours in courses directly related to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six.
  • At least one year of experience providing care and education for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years in a group childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Reggio Approach and documentation, with a willingness to develop teaching skills through reflective practice.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and DCFS licensing standards.
  • Valid DCFS required certifications, including SIDS, SBS, Food Handler, and others as required.
  • Three written character references and a complete background check and fingerprinting.
  • Availability to work full-time between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with a coordinated schedule with the Director.
  • Meet all DCFS licensing requirements, including a physical examination that provides evidence of being free of communicable disease, including active tuberculosis, and physical or mental conditions that could affect their ability to perform assigned duties.
