About the Role

Erie Neighborhood House is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lead Preschool Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our Childcare Program, you will be responsible for leading a team of educators in providing high-quality education and care to young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans in collaboration with the classroom team
  • Provide guidance and support to Teacher Assistants, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Act as an ambassador for the Erie Neighborhood House Child Care program, promoting our mission and values
  • Collaborate with the Site Director to ensure compliance with DCFS licensing, NAEYC, and Head Start performance standards
  • Participate in recruitment of children and families for Erie House programs, promoting our services and resources
  • Meet with Family Advocate staff quarterly to discuss strengths and needs of families
  • Participate in transition meetings, ensuring a smooth transition for children and families
  • Maintain a current Gateways Registry membership and complete 20 hours of professional development training per program year
  • Complete two home visits per program year and parent-teacher conferences according to the education timeline
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, agency meetings, and in-service trainings, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with Gateways Level 5 or in school to obtain BA
  • Must obtain an Illinois Gateway Early Childhood Education credential level 5 (Working to obtain a PEL)
  • Bilingual/bicultural Spanish preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with physical constraints required for evacuation of the building during emergencies
  • Demonstrates self-motivation, self-direction, and ability to follow directions, with a sincere interest in working with children and knowledge of children's development and growth
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
