The internship duration ranges from a minimum of three months to a maximum of six months.

Required Skills
  • Familiarity with performing simulations and analytical evaluations of electrical power systems, including harmonic, transient, stability, and load flow assessments is preferred.
  • Experience with power system simulation software such as EMTP-RV, ATP, DIgSILENT, PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, GE PSLF, Simulink for Power Systems, ETAP, Cape, OpenDSS, SuperHarm, etc. is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills in English are essential.

  • Understanding of data analysis methodologies is desirable.
  • A background in conference or journal publications is a plus.
  • Experience with power electronics is a bonus.
Responsibilities

Interns will be assigned project tasks and responsibilities based on their experience level. For example, a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree will likely undertake closely supervised tasks aimed at enhancing their proficiency with simulation and data analysis tools, while those pursuing or holding an advanced degree will be expected to tackle more demanding projects with minimal oversight. Typical tasks for an intern at EnerNex may include:

  • Conducting power system evaluations on wind energy projects and utility systems, including harmonic analysis, transient analysis, temporary overvoltage/overcurrent assessments, ground fault settings, arc flash evaluations, short circuit analyses, and protective device coordination.
  • Executing data analysis related to bulk transmission, distributed generation, and power quality assessments.
  • Preparing engineering documentation that outlines study findings.
  • Creating software tools to support power system evaluations and data analysis efforts.
  • Carrying out routine tasks to fulfill project requirements.
