About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patent Agent to join our Intellectual Property team at Type One Energy. As a Patent Agent, you will play a critical role in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, and supporting the overall IP strategy of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and Prosecute Patent Applications: Prepare and file patent applications in the US and foreign jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct Patentability and Freedom-to-Operate Analyses: Conduct thorough searches and analyses to determine the patentability of inventions and potential infringement risks.
  • Support IP Strategy: Collaborate with the Intellectual Property Counsel to develop and implement the company's IP strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Work with Engineers and Scientists: Provide guidance on IP matters, working closely with engineers and scientists to understand inventions and develop effective IP protection strategies.
  • Stay Current with Patent Laws and Regulations: Stay up-to-date with changes in patent laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and advising the team on best practices.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Physics or Related Field: A strong background in physics or a related field is essential for this role.
  • Registration with the USPTO: Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office is required.
  • Minimum 35 Years of Experience in Patent Prosecution: A minimum of 35 years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably in a law firm or corporate setting, is required.
  • Strong Understanding of US and Foreign Patent Laws and Procedures: A deep understanding of US and foreign patent laws and procedures is essential for this role.
  • Excellent Communication and Analytical Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving abilities, are required.
