About the Role


We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician Assistant to join our Operations team at Sysco Knoxville, LLC. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our delivery equipment.


Job Summary


This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to assist our fleet shop with daily equipment checks, fueling, and maintenance. If you have a passion for heavy equipment and a strong work ethic, we encourage you to apply.


Responsibilities



  • Fuel every piece of delivery equipment daily, ensuring timely and efficient operations.
  • Conduct daily checks on all fluid levels of power equipment, identifying and reporting any issues promptly.
  • Assist the fleet shop as needed, providing support with maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborate with the fleet shop and night warehouse management to ensure equipment is ready for use.
  • Wash trailers according to the FSQA schedule, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Maintain the parking lot, keeping it free of debris and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Support the night truck spotters in organizing the truck yard, optimizing space and efficiency.

Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you will need:


Education



  • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience



  • 1-3 months of related experience and/or training.

Professional Skills



  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Can add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Learn to drive and back-up tractor-trailers and straight trucks.

Physical Demands


This role requires:



  • Regularly standing; walking; using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms and talking or hearing.
  • Frequently climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouch, or crawling.
  • Occasionally sitting.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
