As a Cost Management Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include overseeing cost control, scheduling, risk assessment, and the establishment of a progress measurement framework. You will prepare actionable insights for decision-makers, manage internal and external reporting, and engage in various project control activities to optimize our operational outcomes. Your role will be pivotal in gathering and interpreting data to maximize value and identify benefits through collaborative efforts.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in project controls within industrial construction.
Essential Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, business administration, finance, or a related field; or a comparable mix of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience in project controls within engineering and construction sectors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various contract types and their implications for project controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in project control principles, including WBS, RoC, earned value management, and performance forecasting.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, PDF editing, and Primavera P6.
  • Capability to create and manage schedules for multiple small projects with minimal oversight across different departments.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn Procore project management software.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment; excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proactive and solution-focused mindset.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and professional courtesy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Regularly communicate with cross-functional teams, including management, about project and operational statuses.
  • Collaborate with estimating teams to establish baselines for future projects, analyze change requests for cost reasonableness, and assist in proposal requests.
  • Evaluate expenditures on technical programs and operations, seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Forecast future spending to provide insights on potential program costs.
  • Facilitate schedule updates and reviews with cross-functional teams.
  • Compile and analyze data to support bid leveling and pricing analysis, collaborating with estimating teams on proposals.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and new products.
  • Monitor and update relevant departments regarding fluctuations in pricing and vendor costs.
  • Develop and maintain risk registers for projects within the team's portfolio.
  • Lead change management initiatives and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely recognition and capture of change orders.
  • Regularly report on cost, change, schedule, and risk metrics to the broader team and executives.
  • Support the growth of the Project Controls team while functioning as an individual contributor.
  • Participate in meetings with engineering, construction, operations teams, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Assist with the review and approval of invoicing.
