Position Overview:

Conducts emergency medical service tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Assists Paramedic partner with various medical interventions and patient care.
  • Transports patients to designated facilities as necessary.
  • Safely operates an ambulance and EMS communication devices during both emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Regularly cleans and maintains the ambulance's interior and exterior.
  • After each patient transport: cleans the unit, sanitizes equipment, changes linens, restocks supplies, disposes of waste, and ensures all equipment is returned to its designated location.
  • Records and documents vital signs and other data for patient reassessment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of lead placement for cardiac monitoring and performs 12-lead EKGs as per established protocols.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to meet patient care needs while managing costs.
  • Assists with clerical tasks such as answering phones when required.
  • May assist medical staff with procedures as needed.
  • Maintains a state of alertness and operates safely at all times.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • No prior experience necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to operate a vehicle for extended periods.
  • Frequent verbal communication required.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Regular lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
  • Regular visual acuity for near and far distances, as well as color differentiation.
  • Frequent auditory skills to receive communications and detect alarms.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional patient handling.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movements.
  • Rare crawling and running.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
