Job Description

We are seeking a Field Engineer to join our team at the Electric Boat location in Groton, CT. As a Field Engineer, you will provide engineering support and independent oversight of work associated with installation, testing, and modification of reactor plant systems, components, and safety systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the submarine new construction process. You will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and independently exercise authority to ensure that work is conducted in a safe manner. You will interact with Navy personnel, shipyard engineering, local government representatives, and partner organizations.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience;
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience;
  • Currently or previously NPE qualified;
  • CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program;
  • Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Previous experience in applying innovative solutions to resolve problems/improve performance;
  • Prior Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program operational or design experience is desired but not required;
  • Strong leadership and mentoring ability;
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to varying tasks and responsibilities;
  • Experience working with US Navy Nuclear Fleet and/or nuclear capable shipyard.

Pay Range: $82,400 - $128,800 annually. Note the salary information provided above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
