Role Summary
As an Aerospace Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, functional assessments, and preventive upkeep on various aircraft. Your duties will encompass:
- Executing phase inspections, daily checks, and pre/post-flight evaluations.
- Performing specialized inspections on hydraulic, electrical, and power systems.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, along with conducting unscheduled maintenance on both assigned and transient aircraft.
- Carrying out a comprehensive range of repairs and testing on aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces.
- Identifying problem areas and determining the necessary extent of repairs.
- Removing and replacing defective components and reassembling aircraft parts.
- Installing, aligning, and adjusting major assemblies such as engines and hydraulic systems.
- Conducting ground functional tests of aircraft systems.
- Servicing aircraft with essential fluids including oil, fuel, and hydraulic fluid.
- Launching and recovering aircraft while ensuring thorough inspections prior to takeoff.
Qualifications
Military Grades: Enlisted (E6 and below)
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must possess experience or training that demonstrates the ability to remove and replace aircraft parts and make precise adjustments according to established specifications. Proficiency in using hand tools and testing equipment is essential.
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have at least 18 months of experience or training in installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing various mechanical and pneumatic systems on aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience in coordinating the work of fellow mechanics and scheduling maintenance tasks is also required. The ability to instruct lower-graded mechanics and other personnel in the disassembly and reassembly of damaged components is crucial for this role.
