**Position Overview**

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the assignment, supervision, and evaluation of personnel engaged in the operation of refuse collection vehicles and related activities within a municipal solid waste framework. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of landfill operations, equipment upkeep, and various waste collection programs.
  • Manage and coordinate a range of refuse collection services, including residential, commercial, and specialized waste management in designated areas; oversee daily operational tasks.
  • Direct the management of material and equipment storage facilities, including dispatching and vehicle maintenance operations, ensuring the effective allocation of refuse collection vehicles.
  • Conduct inspections of collection operations in real-time to ensure compliance with established safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Engage with the public to address and resolve complaints, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy.
  • Evaluate the operational status of equipment, assist in identifying instances of misuse, and oversee repair cost assessments while supervising yard operations.
  • Maintain thorough records of operational activities to inform planning and management strategies.
  • Log and address complaints related to service areas, conducting field assessments to verify task completion and adherence to policies.
  • Monitor for service area expansions and illegal dumping activities, providing recommendations for service adjustments.
  • Advise on personnel matters, including hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions; manage employee grievances and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in the strategic assignment of collection vehicles based on operational priorities and equipment availability; oversee the towing of malfunctioning vehicles and ensure timely repairs.
  • Supervise staff involved in vehicle maintenance, waste collection, and other operational tasks, establishing effective procedures and maintaining inventory records.
  • Provide training and support in the operation of specialized equipment.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Essential Qualifications
    • At least five (5) years of verifiable experience in managing a solid waste landfill or processing facility comparable to the operational scale of V2X.
    • Proficient in landfill management, equipment maintenance, and various waste collection programs.
    • Prior supervisory experience is required.
    • Certification to operate and maintain specialized waste processing equipment is mandatory.
    • Ability to obtain relevant certifications within six (6) months of employment.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Extensive knowledge of refuse collection methods, equipment operation, and maintenance practices.
    • Familiarity with supervisory techniques and safety protocols related to waste management.
    • Strong ability to plan, assign, and review the work of subordinate staff while fostering effective working relationships.
    • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and preparing comprehensive reports.
