About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Welder to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for welding carbon pressure vessels and fabricating custom refrigeration equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Select appropriate welding methods, tools, and materials based on project specifications and materials being used.
  • Set up welding equipment, including selecting proper settings for voltage, current, and gas flow.
  • Operate welding machinery and tools to join, fabricate, and repair metal components and structures.
  • Perform various welding tasks with precision and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality welds and strong structural integrity.
  • Monitor and maintain welding equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Inspect welded joints and structures to identify and address defects or imperfections.
  • Collaborate with Team Lead to ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • MIG or Stick welding experience.
  • Ability to pass either the Stick 6G Test or the MIG 6G Test.
  • Willing and able to work 1st shift, with flexibility to work overtime when needed.
  • Demonstrated positive work history and reliable attendance record.
  • Strong self-directed and proactive work ethic.
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift heavy objects as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pipe fitting experience.
  • Sub arc welding experience.
