About the Role

We are seeking a skilled TIG Welder to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our Transcritical line, you will be responsible for welding stainless steel subassemblies according to ASME code, applying 6G welding techniques on stainless and carbon steel, and ensuring the structural integrity and quality of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Select appropriate welding methods, tools, and materials based on project specifications and materials being used.
  • Set up welding equipment, including selecting proper settings for voltage, current, and gas flow.
  • Operate welding machinery and tools to join, fabricate, and repair metal components and structures.
  • Perform various welding tasks with precision and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality welds and strong structural integrity.
  • Monitor and maintain welding equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Inspect welded joints and structures to identify and address defects or imperfections.
  • Collaborate with Team Lead to ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • TIG welding experience.
  • Ability to pass the 6G TIG Test (2" carbon steel schedule 80 pipe with 70S-6 filler).
  • Willing and able to work 1st shift (4 10-Hour shifts, Monday – Thursday, 5:30AM – 4:00PM) as well as overtime when needed or when mandatory on Fridays. Overtime on Saturdays is optional.
  • Demonstrated positive work history as well as a reliable and punctual attendance record.
  • Strong self-directed and proactive work ethic.
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift heavy objects as required.
