Position Overview

As a vital member of the Equipment Design Engineering team at Johnson Controls International, you will utilize your expertise in 3D modeling to support engineers in the creation of essential 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and prepare engineering drawings based on initial concepts, sketches, specification sheets, and other relevant data.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software, including Autodesk Inventor, Creo, and Revit, to produce 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Compile comprehensive documentation packages and generate drawing sets.
  • Prepare and interpret conventional and CAD engineering drawings and specifications for machinery and components.
  • Respond promptly to production floor inquiries regarding manufacturing specifications, BOM, or routing issues.
  • Independently manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Assist colleagues in executing projects and fulfilling orders.
  • Efficiently manage and execute work tasks and projects.
  • Conduct self-reviews of work prior to submission for senior staff review.
  • Perform peer reviews of internal design packages.
  • Engage in periodic inspections of assigned units on the production floor to ensure compliance with specifications.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A college diploma in mechanical engineering design and drafting technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Inventor, including standardized drafting practices.
  • Experience in sheet metal design.
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting mechanical products and assemblies in a dynamic environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in HVAC or mechanical equipment design applications.
  • The ability to develop precise manufacturing specifications in a timely manner.
  • Skills in creating preliminary designs or conceptualizing design ideas.
  • Experience in producing freehand sketches and perspectives.
  • The capability to create presentation drawings with perspectives using Inventor, Creo, and Revit.
  • Detail-oriented drawings for HVAC equipment layouts and schematics.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • A commitment to developing technical skills through ongoing training.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • A high level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic.
