About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer to join our team at Apex Systems. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and managing high-voltage substation projects from conception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all assigned substation projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
  • Secure required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes.
  • Conduct project meetings and be responsible for project tracking and analysis.
  • Provide information to internal and external clients on moderate to complex issues.
  • Create and communicate presentation materials for report-outs and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide training, due diligence, and technical oversight of external engineers of record (EOR) for all assigned substation projects.
  • Secure engineering consulting resources from a list of approved suppliers.
  • Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure a substation site.
  • Competitively source, select, and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services.
  • Coordinate the engineering deliverables in support of FERC Order 1000 competitive requests for proposals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in substation design and engineering of high voltage substation projects.
  • Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action.
  • PMP and/or P.E. in a related discipline is a plus.
  • Some travel required within North America.
