Role Overview: Traveling Site Manager
The Traveling Site Manager is tasked with overseeing preservation and restoration initiatives, along with administrative responsibilities at the job site, in support of the Project Manager (PM). This role facilitates the flow of information among the field, office, management, subcontractors, and clients to ensure compliance with contractual obligations. The Traveling Site Manager aids the PM in managing assigned scopes of work and directs field personnel to guarantee a high-quality project completion that adheres to timelines and budget constraints. This position requires travel across various job sites nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
  • Assists in organizing and maintaining job site logistics and conditions.
  • Ensures adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintains daily documentation including Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), and Daily Logs.
  • Documents job progress through photographs.
  • Collaborates with the PM to ensure sufficient field personnel are scheduled and present to efficiently complete work scopes.
  • Works with the PM to develop, monitor, and update the project schedule.
  • Maintains a clear understanding of contracted work scopes and ensures any additional tasks receive prior approval.
  • Coordinates with the PM and Project Engineer (PE) to ensure compliance with approved products and methods.
  • Supervises scheduling, safety, documentation, and quality of subcontractor work.
  • Ensures all changes to project files, plans, specifications, and as-built documents are communicated to the PE.
  • Strives to minimize job costs while ensuring accurate accounting.
  • This role is based from either Columbus, OH or Savage, MD, with travel to job sites required.
Communication:
  • Supports the PM in building and maintaining relationships with owners' representatives, design professionals, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Acts as a liaison among job site trades, subcontractors, and the PM.
  • Assists the PM and PE in managing project-specific information systems.
  • Helps the PM communicate schedule updates to all relevant parties.
Qualifications
Educational Background:
  • Degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience is also considered.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years in construction (preferred).
Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Adept at navigating a fast-paced, multi-phase project environment with changing priorities.
  • Capability to identify and implement more efficient practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in reading architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
Software Proficiency:
  • Familiarity with Procore.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 – Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and other web-based tools.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus.
