About the RoleThe Assistant Estimator is a key member of our estimating team, responsible for coordinating quantity takes offs, subcontractor qualifications, and research in support of our Estimators and Business Expansion Manager.
Responsibilities- Ensure the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Build relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors to understand their needs and expectations.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects.
- Facilitate collaboration amongst team members to ensure quality control of bids and estimates.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor to establish a value for the work.
- Understand the full scope of the project through document review and asking questions of the design team and owner.
- Prepare qualifications and assumptions for the estimate.
- Manage subcontractor solicitation and selection process as required.
- Degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or other related major preferred.
- Equivalent experience is also welcome.
- 1+ years of construction experience preferred.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to problem solve, effectively prioritize, and drive processes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-phase project environment with shifting priorities.
- Ability to identify and implement more efficient practices.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to read architectural/engineering drawings and specifications.
