About the Role

The Assistant Estimator is a key member of our estimating team, responsible for coordinating quantity takes offs, subcontractor qualifications, and research in support of our Estimators and Business Expansion Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Build relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects.
  • Facilitate collaboration amongst team members to ensure quality control of bids and estimates.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor to establish a value for the work.
  • Understand the full scope of the project through document review and asking questions of the design team and owner.
  • Prepare qualifications and assumptions for the estimate.
  • Manage subcontractor solicitation and selection process as required.
Requirements
  • Degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or other related major preferred.
  • Equivalent experience is also welcome.
  • 1+ years of construction experience preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, effectively prioritize, and drive processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-phase project environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to identify and implement more efficient practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read architectural/engineering drawings and specifications.
