Job Summary

As a Compliance Specialist with Cook County Government, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and successful implementation of compliance initiatives and activities. You will serve as a liaison between departments to address issues, identify and assess areas of risk and non-compliance, and investigate complaints of non-compliance. Your expertise will be essential in performing audits, working with metrics, and preparing statutory reports. You will also be responsible for responding to inquiries and assisting with the conduct of trainings to increase compliance awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate complaints of non-compliance and perform audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Work with metrics and prepare statutory reports to track compliance trends and identify areas for improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison between departments to address issues and identify areas of risk and non-compliance.
  • Develop and implement compliance training programs to increase awareness and understanding of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to drive accuracy and precision in analysis and reporting.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years of investigation, audit, compliance, or directly related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with consistent and reliable productivity and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of procedural analytical practices and ability to perform moderate studies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a government agency or regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations and laws.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Veteran's Preference

Cook County Government offers a veteran's preference in the application process to honorably discharged veterans who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States for more than 180 consecutive days, or during War Time. To take advantage of this preference, a veteran must:

  • Meet the minimum qualifications for the position.
