About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our team as the Executive Director, Retail Operations. This is a critical role that will drive the strategy and execution of all retail operations, monitoring and achieving performance goals across revenue, targets, and team member engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Vision: Create an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the company's mission, vision, and values.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead, grow, and direct the management and development of the Retail Services Division, including all retail locations, new goods program, e-commerce, and supply chain.
  • Operational Excellence: Guide retail leadership teams to develop district-specific strategies and priorities to continually support our mission.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and achieve operational performance goals. Drive adjustments to strategies and tactics as necessary to achieve goals.
  • Revenue Growth: Ensure all stores consistently achieve revenue goals through effective use of short and long-term planning and expense control.
  • Customer Experience: Deliver consistent high standards of customer experience in stores.
  • Real Estate Management: Partner closely with Real Estate to identify new store and relocation opportunities and manage real-estate portfolio to achieve growth goals.
  • Company-Wide Initiatives: Support company-wide initiatives with direct leadership participation.
  • Annual Planning: Build annual operational plans and budgets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate cross-company to ensure support and execution of all operational strategies.
  • Financial Management: Meet budgetary obligations in support of organizational mission.
  • Continuous Improvement: Research, create, and execute continuous improvement strategies that align with organizational mission, vision, and values.
  • Workforce Development: Support, grow, and maintain an engaged workforce.
  • Divisional Budgeting: Responsible for preparation of the retail and e-commerce divisional budgets.
  • Employee Management: Coordinate the activities of, and resolve differences between, supervised division/departments/regions.
  • Recruitment and Development: Recruit, select, develop, evaluate, and counsel employee(s).
  • Workforce Development: Work collaboratively with the Workforce Development Division to further the mission.
  • Culture and Environment: Create a strong, mutually supportive work environment and culture where people can do their best.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in business or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 10+ years multi-unit retail experience, in a leadership capacity.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in thrift is required.
  • Problem-Solving: Creative and flexible problem-solving skills.
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven experience in establishing vision and goals; developing strategic plans and leading cross-functional teams in accomplishing key strategic initiatives.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with ambiguity and a dynamic business landscape.
  • Task Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, to prioritize, and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, define business opportunities, collect, interpret, and analyze abstract information and create strategic value-added solutions.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Establish trust and inspire others.
  • Change Management: Ability to embrace, facilitate, and drive change through the operations.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Must possess strong leadership and coaching skills and the ability to capitalize and apply those skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Mobility: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently to walk; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear.
  • Stress Tolerance: The ability to cope with and tolerate levels of stress is also a necessity.
  • Vision: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
