Job Title: Senior Indirect Tax Accountant

Vaco is seeking a highly skilled Senior Indirect Tax Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and tax laws and regulations in relevant state, local and federal jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Indirect Tax Manager in performing research on relevant tax questions and issues as they arise.
  • Aid in compliance and reporting obligations for indirect tax types overseen by the Tax Department, including state and local sales tax, highway use tax, and federal excise taxes related to heavy trucks.
  • Communicate with departments across the company to obtain necessary documentation for tax purposes.
  • Analyze and reconcile tax accrual accounts.
  • Respond to communication from regulatory agencies.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills, an ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of tax matters and the Company.
  • Aid with other miscellaneous returns and special tax projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment.
  • 5 years of relevant tax experience.
  • Preferred experiences in industry accounting or corporate tax role.
