Role Overview: The Actuarial Analyst – Pricing position is vital for enhancing the actuarial pricing strategy at Argo. We are looking for a candidate who can assist business partners in optimizing the portfolio. Continuous development of actuarial skills, independent problem-solving, and innovative contributions to the team are expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a team comprising underwriting, claims, financial, IT, digital, and marketing professionals.
  • Engage in data analysis using R, Python, SQL, Excel, and PowerBI, including data cleansing and manipulation.
  • Conduct comprehensive actuarial and financial analyses to assess performance, including predictive modeling.
  • Work closely with business partners to follow the managing actuary's guidance for enhancing portfolio performance.
  • Assist in evaluating new business opportunities and programs, providing recommendations to business partners.
  • Participate in quarterly loss ratio planning and reforecasting processes, addressing rate changes, loss trends, mix shifts, and non-rate actions.
  • Explore and master new tools to enhance efficiency and refine existing workflows.
  • Develop and automate datasets and reports for actuarial analysis.
  • Complete rate filings as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field. A minimum of 3 exams in pursuit of ACAS or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of actuarial experience, preferably in commercial GL or AL lines. Experience in Casualty, Construction, or Environmental lines is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (SQL, R, Python, SAS, VBA, etc.).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the insurance industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to management and other departments.
  • A collaborative approach to actuarial work, with the ability to engage effectively within a team.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen ability to assess the accuracy of information.
  • Proficient in PC skills, particularly within the Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Experience in predictive modeling is a plus.
  • Experience with rate filings is a plus.
  • A creative and adaptable mindset.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.

Compensation: The base salary range will be commensurate with candidate experience. In addition to the base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on both company and individual performance, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
