About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated roboticist to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a Robotic Control Researcher, you will play a key role in defining and developing new robotic systems and algorithmic solutions to address critical challenges in robotics, machine learning, and assured autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and develop new robotic systems and algorithmic solutions to address relevant challenges in robotics, machine learning, and assured autonomy.
  • Provide technical vision for multidisciplinary research and lead and collaborate on technical proposals to grow and define robotics research.
  • Communicate research vision, results, and impact to sponsors and the broader scientific community through papers, presentations, and technical reports.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on robotics.
  • 7+ years of experience in defining research problems and identifying possible solutions.
  • Recent experience in some combination of the following programming languages and tools: C, C++, C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, Unity, Perception.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical issues effectively and appropriately for a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.
