Position Overview

The AFINC II contract supporting the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26NOS) is seeking qualified individuals for the role of a Lead Storage Systems Engineer. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation and upkeep of enterprise SAN hardware (such as EMC VNX, Dell Compellent), fiber channel switches (Brocade, Dell/EMC), host bus adapters (HBA), and software systems (Unisphere, Dell Storage Manager, CMCNE, WebTools, SANnav).
  • Support the virtualization team in maintaining infrastructure, including storage vMotion, datastores, and tiering.
  • Assist with enterprise backup strategies, systems (Veritas NetBackup), and tape library management.
  • Conduct analytical, technical, and administrative tasks in the planning, design, and installation of both new and existing storage systems.
  • Assess storage performance issues and manage requests for multiple local and remote data centers.
  • Proactively monitor storage service environments and recommend system/service policies.
  • Provide shared 24x7 support for storage and/or virtual infrastructure.
  • Ensure effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide storage infrastructure for both production and disaster recovery.
  • Deliver periodic reports on system status, including uptime, incidents, and ongoing issues.
  • Respond to system faults, analyzing and correcting applications or errors to restore service.
  • Conduct in-depth systems analysis, administration, security, compliance, and maintenance of SAN equipment.
  • Assist in planning and executing strategic patching, system upgrades, software/firmware updates, and hardware diagnostics/repairs.
  • Audit, remediate, and maintain DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) documentation on supported systems.
  • Support the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of servers and related infrastructure devices.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to existing or new technologies that align with strategic and tactical plans.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions based on defined mission scope using approved software tools.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend tactical and strategic solutions to identified problems.
  • Facilitate day-to-day technical communication systems, alerts, and incident tickets in support of operations.
  • Manage activities related to planning, researching, deploying, monitoring, upgrading, patching, and troubleshooting components across a complex environment.
  • Assist in onboarding users/projects, configuration audits, and building data models.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including team leads, administrators, analysts, users, customers, and management.
  • Guide customers in utilizing strategic products through education, first-use assistance, and problem resolution.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with SAN products.
  • Proficiency with operating systems: Windows/UNIX/Linux/VMware.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, SSH, LDAPS, SCP).
  • Experience with physical servers and/or virtualized environments.
  • Familiarity with networking, desktops/laptops, middleware, client/server software, and server operating systems.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management across diverse teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong analytical skills for proposing and implementing workflow improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting computers and related equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift and provision government-furnished equipment.
  • Supervisory experience in both administrative and technical capacities.

Education/Certifications:

  • Technical degree or relevant experience in Information Technology.
  • Knowledge of hyper-converged infrastructure and related technologies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and tools is advantageous.

Certifications Required:

  • One of the following DoD M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certifications:
    • CompTIA Security+ CE
    • CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) CE
    • (ISC)2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
    • GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
    • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
  • Required Computing Environment/Operating System certification:
    • Dell Certified Associate Information Storage and Management (DCA-ISM)

Clearance:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance required or ability to complete the investigation process for an interim clearance.
  • Ability to upgrade to Top Secret clearance preferred.
