Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Aide to join our team at Westhab, Inc. The successful candidate will provide support services to clients in a family homeless shelter, ensuring their basic needs are met and promoting a safe and healthy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intakes for new clients and provide orientation to the facility and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks to clients during designated meal times.
  • Perform regular area inspections to ensure compliance with shelter rules and regulations.
  • Monitor client areas, including sitting areas, laundry rooms, and cafeteria, to ensure adherence to shelter rules.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area and document and track locks for all lockers.
  • Assist with intakes, secure client property, and store and remove client property as necessary.
  • Relocate items and furniture as required and assist the security team as needed.
  • Cover the operations desk when necessary and maintain required documentation in case records.
  • Collect and make copies of client identification and other necessary documents during initial intake.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills, cleaning, laundry, hygiene, and other tasks.
  • Launder and fold agency towels, washcloths, and shelter linens after clients have left the facility.
  • Follow the laundry schedule to ensure all used linens are washed and stored appropriately.
  • Attend and participate in all required agency meetings, including staff meetings, house meetings, in-service training, and weekly/bi-weekly case reviews.
  • Perform regular inspections of client areas and respond to incidents as necessary.
  • Answer phones when necessary and assist with all house operations.
  • Assist with maintenance duties as needed and review logbooks at the start of each shift to ensure all new client intakes are completed within 24 hours.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Food Handlers Certification required.
  • 1-year experience dealing with homeless or special needs populations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols.
