Job Overview

Position Summary of Night Supervisor

The Night Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Night Direct Care team. This role entails providing leadership and ensuring the comprehensive treatment, care, and supervision of all residents during the overnight hours. The Night Supervisor plays a crucial role in the guidance and development of both full-time and per diem Milieu Therapists working overnight. Additionally, this position involves assessing the individual and group needs of residents to guarantee their overnight experience is safe, structured, and therapeutic.

Work Schedule

The Night Supervisor works from Sunday to Thursday, from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Key Responsibilities

The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing the Detex system to monitor night staff performance through scanning, providing necessary feedback to maintain consistency, and generating reports from the system.
  • Ensuring that staff provide age-appropriate supervision for children at all times and attend to any physical health or hygiene needs.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to security procedures, keeping areas tidy, and ensuring timely repairs and replacements of equipment.
  • Overseeing that Night Support staff refuel vans and transport them for necessary trips.
  • Ensuring that night staff adhere to the program schedule as outlined and execute tasks punctually.
  • Employing TCI techniques to prevent triggers, intervene early to avert crises, manage any crises safely, and ensure learning post-crisis. This includes developing skills in LSIs and conflict resolution to minimize larger conflicts.
  • Actively supervising staff by identifying areas for skill development, addressing weaknesses, and recognizing successes.
  • Training and orienting new staff on their responsibilities and tasks.
  • Facilitating regular team meetings and one-on-one supervisions.

Qualifications

Key qualifications for the Night Supervisor include:

  • Master's Degree with 3 years of direct care experience with children and 2 years in an administrative/supervisory role, or a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of direct care experience and 2 years in an administrative/supervisory role, or an Associate's Degree with 6 years of direct care experience and 3 years in an administrative/supervisory role, or a High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of direct care experience and 3 years in an administrative/supervisory role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent managerial and administrative capabilities.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, preferably in a residential context.
  • A valid Driver's License in good standing.
  • A proven ability to collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Multi-lingual skills are advantageous.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is preferred (in-service training is mandatory).
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Flexibility in providing services to clients in various locations as needed.

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Ability to lift, reach, walk, climb stairs, and bend.
