Position Overview

The Instrumentation and Controls Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our production systems. This position is vital for maintaining the electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems that drive our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and troubleshoot control and wiring diagrams to enhance system performance.
  • Apply electrical standards and regulatory codes to maintain compliance.
  • Develop and refine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting documentation for various systems.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Oversee the plant's instrumentation, controls, and calibration processes.

Collaboration and Support

Work closely with production teams, maintenance staff, and management to optimize electrical systems and controls:

  • Provide technical guidance and training on electrical and electronic systems.
  • Modify and develop software applications to enhance system functionality.
  • Evaluate and recommend reliable electrical and electronic components.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to maintain accurate equipment documentation and electrical schematics.
  • Ensure the library of PLC programs is current and accessible.
  • Manage data systems, including servers and HMIs.
  • Assist in creating component lists for maintenance kits and assemblies.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies for equipment and system design.

Work Planning and Scheduling

Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to effectively plan and schedule tasks:

  • Conduct site visits to assess job requirements.
  • Develop Bills of Material (B.O.M.) for projects.
  • Facilitate part requests and coordinate labor resources.
  • Analyze job performance metrics for ongoing improvement.

Installation and Calibration Leadership

Lead the installation of electrical systems and ensure proper calibration:

  • Prepare electrical/control schematics and manuals for new installations.
  • Maintain accurate 'as built' schematics in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Recommend systems, materials, and training for new installations.

Calibration Program Management

Oversee the plant's calibration program to ensure accuracy and compliance:

  • Collaborate with quality and maintenance teams for regular calibration of critical instrumentation.
  • Document all calibration activities and maintain necessary records.
  • Ensure all changes to control devices are accurately reflected in the master calibration list.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in English – able to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and adhere to safe lifting practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
