Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift is a critical role within our manufacturing plant, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining the physical assets of our property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete projects with minimal guidance, demonstrating a proactive attitude to minimizing equipment downtime and lost production capability.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical devices in operation, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Set up and operate shop machinery, including lathes, drill presses, grinders, band saws, cutting torches, and welders, using hand tools and pneumatic tools as needed.
  • Install new or repair/modify hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls, including PLCs, motors, and variable speed drives systems, with the ability to work on power systems up to 480VAC.
  • Improve reliability and uptime of all equipment, taking a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
  • Operate forklifts and hydraulic working platforms as needed, ensuring safe and efficient use.
  • Research and procure supplies, parts, and tools needed to complete work orders, maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Assist in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts, contributing to the upkeep and updating of required paperwork, including records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, and PM logs.
  • Support the vision, mission, and guiding principles of Avient, adhering to applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing job duties.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree (A.A.) or Licensed Journeyman in lieu of degree or commensurate experience preferred.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting controls systems, electric components, pneumatic, instrumentation, and mechanical devices.
  • Proven expertise in industrial electrical, including design, sizing, installation, and component-level troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in other fields of maintenance, such as plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, welding, forklift repair, etc.
  • Competent PC (MS Office and Windows) computer skills desired.

Physical Demands

  • The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area, including safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, and aprons.
