Position Overview:
The Senior Research Scientist will join a dynamic team focused on advancing the long-term research agenda in artificial intelligence and machine learning. This role involves extracting actionable insights from transaction data and delivering cutting-edge technologies to Visa's strategic initiatives.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to Visa's vision as a leader in data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a robust academic background and exhibit exceptional software engineering capabilities. A self-starter who thrives in ambiguous situations, with meticulous attention to detail and outstanding collaboration skills, is sought for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead innovative research projects in generative AI, scalable AI, and foundational models.
  • Develop creative methodologies and models to tackle intricate challenges in generative AI.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to design and implement scalable AI solutions.
  • Mentor junior researchers, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Stay updated on the latest research trends, publications, and advancements in the field.
  • Publish findings in prestigious conferences and journals.
  • Engage with industry partners and academic institutions to foster collaborative research efforts.
  • Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio through patent applications.
This is a hybrid role, allowing employees to alternate between remote work and office presence. Employees in hybrid positions are expected to work from the office 2-3 designated days each week, based on departmental needs.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
PhD in Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field with expertise in Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, or other mathematical analyses.

Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive experience in machine learning, deep learning, and generative models. A strong publication record in leading conferences and journals. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and expertise in deep learning frameworks and large language models. Proven experience in leading research initiatives and delivering innovative solutions. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team. Experience in the payments industry or related fields is advantageous.

Additional Information:
Work Hours: Varies based on departmental needs.
Travel Requirements: This position may require travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This role will be performed in an office environment, requiring the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and via telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment.

Compensation:
The estimated salary range for this position is between $161,500.00 and $234,250.00 annually, which may include potential sales incentive payments. Salary may vary based on job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for bonuses and equity. Visa offers a comprehensive benefits package, which may include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Programs.
