Position OverviewAs a Research Scientist within the Mosaic AI Team at Databricks, your role will involve staying abreast of the latest advancements in deep learning and pushing the boundaries of science by developing innovative techniques that surpass current standards. You will collaborate with a diverse team of researchers, each bringing unique backgrounds and technical expertise. Most importantly, you will prioritize our clients' success: our aim is to empower them in leveraging state-of-the-art LLMs and AI systems, integrating our scientific knowledge into our offerings to facilitate this.
Ideal Candidate Profile- Possess 2+ years of experience in an industrial research environment or equivalent academic background.
- Have contributed original research in significant areas of contemporary AI, such as generative AI model training, enhancement of pre-trained models, and model evaluation.
- Demonstrate specialized knowledge in areas like fine-tuning, RLHF, and LLM tool utilization.
- Be adept at working with large-scale LLMs comprising tens to hundreds of billions of parameters.
- Exhibit strong foundations in software engineering and empirical research methodologies.
- Show enthusiasm for translating your work into practical applications for users and advancing the democratization of modern AI technology.
- Possess excellent communication skills and a desire to thrive in a small, dynamic team environment.
A PhD is not a prerequisite for this position. We welcome candidates with bachelor's or master's degrees, including recent graduates. We are also open to individuals currently in research engineer roles at other organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Stay informed on the latest research literature and innovate beyond existing standards to meet user needs.
- Develop and implement strategies that enhance training efficiency and expand or improve model capabilities, reliability, and safety.
Compensation Transparency
Databricks is committed to equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is provided below and reflects the base salary for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are influenced by various factors unique to each candidate, including job-related skills, experience, relevant certifications, and specific work location. Databricks utilizes the full range of compensation based on these factors. The total compensation package may also include eligibility for annual performance bonuses, equity, and additional benefits.
Local Pay Range: $192,000—$260,000 USD
