ABOUT ASSETS PROTECTION

The Assets Protection teams are dedicated to fostering a safe and secure environment for both team members and guests, while achieving financial objectives related to loss prevention and profitability within a Target store.

These teams accomplish this by promoting a culture of physical security and safety, responding to emergencies, investigating theft incidents, and educating team members on loss prevention priorities.

The role of a Target Safety and Security Associate can offer you:

  • Skills in utilizing intelligence-led strategies to ensure the safety of team members and guests.
  • Experience in crisis management, safety protocols, and crowd control; assisting both guests and team members.
  • Expertise in de-escalation techniques and recovering stolen merchandise to prevent loss.
  • Proficiency in using Target's surveillance systems.
  • Ability to accurately document incidents using industry-standard case management systems.

A typical day as a Target Safety and Security Associate may include:

  • Supporting sales by greeting and assisting guests and team members at the entrance and throughout the store; helping guests locate products both in-store and online.
  • Leading a culture of physical security by maintaining safe and secure standards throughout the store, including outdoor areas.
  • Responding to and documenting security incidents accurately.
  • Utilizing escalation tools for guest-related issues to maintain a safe environment.
  • Conducting effective merchandise recoveries and providing apprehension support as necessary, strictly following company policies and guidelines.
  • Preventing theft and loss at the entrance by performing receipt checks on high-value items.
  • Submitting required documentation for all incidents in accordance with company policies.
  • Understanding and effectively using the video surveillance system.
  • Training team members on merchandise protection and compliance.
  • Educating team members on loss prevention opportunities as directed by leadership.
  • Implementing loss prevention action plans set by leadership to minimize losses in key areas.
  • Modeling safe work practices while maintaining a clean and inviting store for guests and team members.
  • Providing excellent service and a shopping experience that meets guest needs.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Performing other duties as needed based on business requirements.
