ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Solid understanding of both Analog and Digital electronics.

3-5 years of experience in testing and troubleshooting electronic and electro-mechanical systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification from a Trade School or an Associate's Degree in acoustics or electronics is advantageous.

Experience in Acoustic Testing is preferred.

Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and ANSI and EN acoustic standards is a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary objective is to ensure that Gentex products meet or exceed design specifications, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction. The technician will conduct tests on acoustic, mechanical, and electronic components, cables, sub-assemblies, and finished products to verify compliance with functional and quality standards. Responsibilities include assisting engineering teams with data collection, analysis, and preliminary reporting of test results for electro-acoustic products such as headsets, earplugs, microphones, intercoms, and military-mounted devices. This role will also involve supporting test planning, setup, cable management, and sound field development under the guidance of acoustical engineers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Proficient troubleshooting of electro-mechanical assemblies and wiring issues.

Ability to interpret electronic schematics and engineering drawings.

Strong communication skills to articulate technical challenges to various departments and external suppliers.

Capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently.

Eagerness to learn and operate engineering laboratory equipment for acoustic, environmental, and mechanical testing.

Willingness to learn about the operation and maintenance of 3D printing technology.

Competence in drafting engineering test plans and reports.

Conduct thorough troubleshooting to identify failure causes at the PCB or subassembly level in electronic and electro-mechanical systems.

Assist in root cause analysis of failures and communicate findings effectively.

Setup and operate acoustic and electronic testing equipment for evaluation and failure analysis.

Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering teams.

Adhere to written procedures, operate test equipment, and perform functional testing of acoustic and electro-mechanical assemblies in a production setting.

Conduct general inspections to identify workmanship and visual non-conformance.

Execute assembly and inspection tasks using optical aids, including microscopes and electronic vision systems.

Analyze test data and prepare reports or presentations as necessary.
