ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

· Solid understanding of both Analog and Digital electronics.

· 3-5 years of hands-on experience in testing and troubleshooting electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· A Trade School certificate or an Associate's Degree in acoustics or electronics is advantageous.

· Experience in Acoustic Testing is a plus.

· Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and ANSI and EN acoustic standards is beneficial.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that Gentex products meet or exceed specified testing criteria, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction. The technician will conduct evaluations of acoustic, mechanical, and electronic components, cables, sub-assemblies, and finished products to confirm adherence to functional and quality standards. This position involves assisting engineering teams with the collection, analysis, and preliminary reporting of test results for electro-acoustic products, including headsets, earplugs, microphones, intercoms, and military-grade head-mounted devices. The technician will also support test planning, setup, cable routing, and sound field development under the supervision of acoustical engineers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Troubleshoot electro-mechanical assemblies and wiring issues effectively.

· Interpret electronic schematics and engineering drawings accurately.

· Communicate technical challenges clearly to various departments and external suppliers.

· Manage multiple tasks independently while maintaining organization.

· Demonstrate a willingness to learn and operate engineering laboratory equipment for acoustic, environmental, and mechanical testing.

· Gain experience or show willingness to learn the operation and maintenance of 3D printing equipment.

· Draft engineering test plans and reports competently.

· Conduct thorough troubleshooting to determine failure causes at the PCB or subassembly level in electronic and electro-mechanical systems.

· Assist in root cause analysis of failures and communicate findings effectively.

· Set up and operate acoustic and electronic testing equipment for evaluation and failure analysis.

· Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering teams.

· Follow established procedures, set up and operate testing equipment, and perform functional testing of acoustic and electro-mechanical assemblies in a production setting.

· Conduct general inspections of products to identify workmanship and visual discrepancies.

· Perform assembly and inspection tasks using optical aids, including microscopes and electronic vision systems.

· Analyze test data and prepare comprehensive test reports and presentations.

· May be required to support additional departments and business functions as necessary.
